The Acura MDX comes standard with a 3.5L V6 engine that delivers 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. It has an excellent EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 19 city and 26 highway MPG, in part thanks to the standard Variable Cylinder Management.¹ This works to improves fuel efficiency by automatically changing the engine to run on six or three cylinders, depending on driving conditions.

The MDX comes standard in front-wheel drive and has an available all-wheel drive system. Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®) is designed to enhance handling on dry roads while also providing the extra traction you’ll need to tackle slippery roads.

Acura MDX Towing Capacity

When you think of a luxury SUV like the Acura MDX, the first thought that comes into your head may not be “towing.” However, this vehicle is more than capable in the towing department.

The front-wheel-drive Acura MDX models can tow up to 3,500 pounds—more than enough for a smaller trailer or an ATV. If this is all you need for a weekend getaway, you’re all set.

However, you may want a bit more towing capability if you’re planning to bring a boat or camper along for the ride. The MDX can tow up to 5,000 pounds in models equipped with SH-AWD®, giving you that extra lift you’re looking for.

A Look Inside the Acura MDX

The MDX feels like a luxury SUV, with its premium materials spread throughout the cabin. It comes standard with leatherette-trimmed sport seats and has an available perforated Milano premium leather-trimmed interior with contrast piping and stitching.

With 139.1 cubic feet of passenger volume, there’s plenty of room for seven passengers. Everyone will have their own personal space with these interior dimensions:

On top of all that space to stretch out, you’ll be extra comfortable with the standard heated front seats and 12-way power front seats with power lumbar support.

If that’s not enough point of articulation for you, you can upgrade to the available 16-way power front seats with power lumbar support, thigh extension, and side bolsters. With that many levels of customization, you’ll feel right at home when you take your seat behind the wheel.

You can even share the comfort with rear passengers, since the MDX has available heated second-row outboard seats, as well. This way, everyone will enjoy their time spent inside your SUV.

Make the Most of MDX Cargo and Passenger Space

The Acura MDX offers plenty of space, and versatility to go with it. The 50/50-split third-row seatbacks and the third-row access One-Touch Smart Slide Walk-In function allow you to configure the cabin the way you want, adapting to passengers and cargo as needed.

In addition, you’ll have the standard second-row 4-way manual seat with removable center seat. This will let you reconfigure the second row however you want. When you need more seating, leave the middle seat in place, and have room for all your friends. Though if you want extra space, remove the center seat to have two captain’s chairs and easy third-row access.

Behind the third row, you’ll have up to 18.1 cubic feet of storage space, easily accessible via the standard power lift tailgate. Although, the entire third row can be folded flat, giving you a total of 48.4 cubic feet of cargo space.

When the second and third rows are folded down, you’ll have over 95 cubic feet of total cargo space. Also, the standard hidden cargo storage area with reversible smart lid is a great place to hide a laptop, camera, or other valuable item. It remains out of sight, and you can go enjoy your next adventure.

Acura MDX Trim Levels

The Acura MDX has several trim levels—or packages, as Acura calls them—that will give you exactly what you want out of your SUV. Pick from the MDX Package, Technology Package, A-Spec® Package, and Advance Package.

The standard MDX Package will give you all the performance, comfort, and technology features you’ve been looking forward to. This includes convenient infotainment features, such as standard wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ Integration.

With the Technology Package, you’ll get Iconic Drive™ Ambient LED Cabin Lighting with 27 themes. This way, you’ll be able to set a custom mood and relax while on the road. If you’re looking for something extra sporty, the A-Spec® Package includes its own unique Exterior and Interior Sport Appearance Packages, as well as special Sport A-Spec® seats.
